Our Story

I opened Mystique over 33 years ago out of my passion and fascination with diamonds and unusual gemstones. The concept that diamonds have been buried in the earth for millions of years and formed into these gorgeous gemstones is fascinating to me. Diamonds have decorated kings and inspired poets. They become heirlooms for our children and future generations. After receiving my graduate degree in gemology and completing an apprenticeship with a master goldsmith, the mystique of diamonds became my obsession, and the inception of Mystique Fine Jewelry and Design in 1991 in Old Town Alexandria.

Our staff and I enjoy working with clients who are looking for that one of a kind unique piece of jewelry to complete a wardrobe style, to dazzle at a special event and for everyday sparkle, and for those important moments in time when you want to express your gratitude and love for that someone special. Additionally, my team and I, including our in-house master goldsmith, will custom design pieces and transform your dream into reality. We have a flair for reviving old, vintage and outdated items in your jewelry box. Let’s utilize what you have and create something truly beautiful, unique and personalized. Offering Eco-friendly , sustainable  jewelry and conflict free.

Featuring an Equestrian line in the heart of the countryside in our Middleburg store.

Come share the experience of the thrill of diamonds and all things beautiful with me at my intimate and charming boutique in Old Town Alexandria and Middleburg, Va.

Melanie

Melanie has had a life-long passion for love and jewelry. She was hooked at an early age that
was nurtured by her grandmother who saw she had an eye for the picking out unique and quality
jewelry as a young child.

While a student at Marshall University, studying for her BA of Fine Arts Degree. She worked for
T.K. Dodrill, family-owned jeweler in Huntington, WV. Melanie learned all aspects of the

customers and how that knowledge could allow her to best match a look to their individual style.
After working at Dodrill for over 17 years while raising her three beautiful daughters, she
relocated to Virginia and continued working for another local jewelry store before joining
Mystique Jewelers in 2017.

“I have always worked for a family-owned business and that is incredibly important to me. That
is just one of the reasons I love working at Mystique,” says Melanie. “The family atmosphere is
appreciated by both staff and customers alike.”
